The Acting Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi has reiterated that the Polytechnic as one of the ASUP chapters will not do anything detrimental to the Union concerning the ongoing two-week industrial action embarked upon by Academic Staff.

Dr. Olarongbe revealed this during a visit by the National Executives of ASUP to the Polytechnic on the 18th of May, 2022.

The National Executives led by the president, Comrade Anderson Ezeibe visited the Polytechnic management to engage staff on the two-week strike action embarked upon. The ASUP president described the strike as definite one which is inform of protest to express displeasure on the nonchalant attitude of the Federal Government towards her agreement with the Union.

In his remarks, Dr. Olarongbe said, “In conflict resolution all over the world, it is always give and take, we can not win all and the government cannot win all. We should have that at the back of our mind when we go for negotiations. If the need raises at all for us to compromise, we should do it in the interest of the Polytechnic Sector, we should do it in the interest of academic staff, we should do it in the interest of the students, we should do it in the interest of the Polytechnic community as whole and we should do it in the interest of Nigeria, our great nation.”

The Ag. Rector however commended the ASUP national President for his visit and for the donation of 100-seater digital classroom to the Polytechnic. He assured the Union of the polytechnic’s maximum cooperation and support.
